We are delighted to announce that Clare Connor will be delivering the first of our keynotes and are extremely excited by the experiences she plans to share with us around her journey of leading change in the performing arts industry.
With a longstanding background in dance and performance, Clare trained at London Contemporary Dance School before embarking on a successful performing career with Phoenix Dance. She then worked as a teacher-artist in both further and higher education and collaboratively produced performing arts programmes for the University of East London, as well as supporting the validation of new arts programmes in several universities. Clare has brought success to a variety of organisations, including Stratford Circus Arts Centre where in 2012 she established a new charitable body to run the centre. The Southbank Centre then benefited from Clare’s leadership when she joined them in November 2014 as Director of Business Development and led the large scale “Let the Light In” capital fundraising programme.
Most recently however, Clare landed her dream job as Chief Executive and Interim Principal at The Place - the home of the London Contemporary Dance School where she began her career. Clare joined The Place during a particularly tough period in its history and has been working to turn its fortunes around through change management and strong, transparent leadership.
We greatly look forward to hearing more about Clare’s journey, as well as hearing her insights into leadership in the performing arts and how we can apply them within our own organisations.
