Talk the talk
Even the most seasoned conference goer can be a bit bamboozled by all the jargon surrounding conference schedules. Lightning talks, breakout sessions, unconference... Thankfully, long gone are the days of being preached to from a pulpit, but what do these new sessions actually mean? We want our conference to be a great chance for you to share your organisation's story and give your two cents on the biggest issues affecting the arts sector. We think our conference formats will let you do so, so let's demystify the terminology of this year's conference .
An oldie but a goodie. The most traditional talk format, come and hear from pioneering arts leaders and get ready to ask your questions during the Q&A session at the end.
Lightning Talks sessions will cover a range of topics and examples from the Spektrix Community. Crossing departments and themes, you’ll hear inspiring, real-world examples of what they’ve been up to.
For the conference this year, we wanted to strike an even balance between Sales, Marketing and Fundraising, so for the first time we’ve got breakout sessions for all three. Some of the sessions have a limited number of spaces, and while we’ll do our best to accommodate everyone, some sessions may fill up quickly so get booking folks.
This year we also have an additional Unconference strand running alongside the breakout sessions. An alternative to your standard conference breakout choices, the Unconference offers you the chance to curate your own conference experience; from participating in or instigating peer-led discussion and debate, booking an Ask Support slot (think speed dating for all your work-based woes), signing up for "health checks" with industry experts or going behind the green curtain with Live Coding from Spektrix Engineers, it's a different sort of conference experience that you’re in control of.
